Specimen Type/Requirements
Lavender top (EDTA) tube - Plasma (preferred) or Whole blood
Gold top (Serum w/ gel) tube - Serum
Red top (Serum w/out gel) tube - Serum
Sterile, plastic, leak-proof container - CSF or Bronchoalveolar lavage
Separate serum/plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection.
Indicate source on the specimen.
Test is not affected by hemolysis or lipemia.
Reject Criteria: Heparin anticoagulant or thawed specimen.
Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
