Test ID BLOD1727 Natural Killer Function (NK Function)

Important Note

Only collect on patients Monday through Thursday. Do not collect Friday through Sunday. Specimens must be received in testing lab (Cincinnati Children's) within 24 hours of collection.  Please call the lab if holiday falls during the week for increased testing restrictions. 

 

**For counts below 0.20 K/mcL, consider waiting until count increases**

**For counts above 1.00 K/mcL, draw 5 mL. It is not recommended to draw less than 5 mL.**

Specimen Type/Requirements

Dark Green top (Sodium Heparin w/out gel) tube - Whole Blood (2 tubes needed) in original collection tubes.

 

Specimens will be rejected if clotted, hemolyzed, centrifuged, or collected in anticoagulants other than Sodium Heparin. If specimen receieved greater than 24 hours after collection, it will be unacceptable.

Volume is based on Custom Volumes by Absolute Lymphocyte Count.  Custom Volumes by ALC
