Non-Sterile or Sterile Specimen Container - Stool

Orange Cap Para-Pak C&S (Cary-Blair Transport Media) - Stool (Refer to Stool Collection Patient Instruction link below)

 

Note:  Testing is only performed on fresh liquid or loose stool specimens. Formed stool specimens will be rejected. Specimens other than stool are not acceptable for use with this test. Stool in stool transport media (e.g., Cary-Blair) should be filled to the fill line according to manufacturer's instructions.

Freezing samples

A. For raw stool, if time from collection to testing will be greater than 48 hours, store frozen.

B. For stool in transport media, if time from collection to testing will be greater than 7 days, store frozen.

C. Frozen samples should be tested within 30 days.
