Specimen Type/Requirements
Gold top (Serum w/ gel) tube - Serum
Red top (Serum w/out gel) tube - Serum
Lavender top (EDTA) tube - Plasma or Whole Blood
Sterile container - CSF, Urine, Bronchoalveolar lavage or Amniotic Fluid
Separate serum/plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection.
Indicate source on specimen and requisition.
Reject Criteria: Samples in Lithium or Sodium Heparin. Bronchoalveolar Lavage or Amniotic Fluid that is received refrigerated instead of frozen.
Test is affected by hemolysis but not affected by lipemia.
