Specimen Type/Requirements
ACD-B tube and Red (no-gel Serum) Tubes.
If the patient is admitted to the hospital for transplant, the blood MUST be drawn pre-transplant. If patient is on dialysis, the blood MUST be drawn PRE-dialysis. For routine crossmatches, DO NOT draw on Friday without prior approval from HLA lab. Specimens received in the lab after 1100 on Fridays without prior approval from the HLA lab will be rejected.
