Specimen Type/Requirements

Red top - Serum, Frozen AND EDTA Lavender - Plasma, Frozen

 

Frozen samples must be CLEARLY LABELED as red serum and EDTA plasma. Serum and EDTA plasma samples must be frozen to below -80°C immediately after separation from cells and shipped on dry ice. Ship overnight on at least 5 lbs of dry ice.  Ship to be received Monday - Friday. 

NO Weekend Deliveries or Holidays

 

If samples arrive thawed they will be rejected.

Methodology

Functional assays, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), turbidimetric assays and immunofixation electrophoresis (IFE) are utilized to assess the functionality and integrity of the complement system in patients with C3 Glomerulopathy.
