Lavender top (EDTA) tube -  Plasma or Whole Blood

Gold top (Serum w/ gel) tube - Serum

Red top (Serum w/out gel) tube - Serum

 

Separate serum/plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection.

Lithium heparin and Sodium heparin (green-top) tubes are NOT acceptable

Avoid repeated freezing and thawing of specimen.

 

Test is not affected by hemolysis or lipemia.
