Light Green top (Lithium Heparin w/gel) tube - Plasma (preferred)
Gold top (Serum w/gel) tube - Serum
Red top (Serum w/out gel) tube - Serum
Specimen should be centrifuged and separated within 2 hours of collection.
Test may be affected by gross hemolysis, gross icterus and gross lipemia.
Note: It is recommended to wait 24-36 hours post-blood transfusion to collect iron studies.
