Blood Culture Collection Guide

For most yeast, routine blood cultures are sufficient. For cases of suspected filamentous fungus (i.e. Aspergillus, Histoplasma, Blastocystis, Coccidiodes), collect specimen in an Isolator tube. Obtain specimen aseptically.

Preferred Volume 10 mL blood in large isolator tube
Minimum Volume

1 mL for low volume in Sodium Heparin tube
